@thesoniaalejandra (00:00.563)
You don't need more strategy. You are a collaboration away from your next level. And as someone who has done
A crazy amount of collaborations. I want to dedicate this podcast to sharing why you need to book a collaboration, like look for your next dream collab and go for it. Hola amigas and welcome back to the Muherom podcast. I am going to be talking about collaborations today, what makes them successful, and how you can have a collaboration that's going to end well and is going to create the impact that.
You are looking for not just in your community but also in your business. I truly believe that collaborations can accelerate your growth, not just like I said, in business, but also through growing your platforms, getting more people in getting in front of more people, and just overall, it has been such a great experience for me. But I will say there are ways to make a collaboration.
collaboration successful and collaborations can definitely not always work out if we don't focus on making them
Like, if if we don't really get intentional about them. So, I'm gonna be sharing how you can have a great collaboration, why collaborations are so impactful, and I want to give you like some tangibles on how to get your dream collab in the next month or two. So, I want to share my latest collaboration with you guys. We just announced the Rich Mommy retreat, which is with two incredible Latina women that I
@thesoniaalejandra (01:53.041)
Absolutely love. One of them I actually worked with Kat del Carmen. She was my coach about a year and a half ago. She helped me a lot through navigating just being a mom and really deciding. I will say, like, my decision to focus on my business and leave my family business did stem a lot from conversations that I had with her during.
Our time together, and I'm super excited to collab with her in a different way. So if you don't know Kat, I would definitely recommend looking her up. She is incredible at what she does, helping you get out of your own way and putting yourself out there to sell your offer. The a lot of like behind how to show up, your messaging, and all of that. So if you're looking for help in that, I definitely would look over.
Over to Kat's account, and then the other one that I absolutely love is Janice, and she is also collaborating with us on this rich mommy retreat. Janice from Yo quiero dinero podcast. I am sure you've heard of her because she's huge in the Latina community. She is so incredible. She has built an amazing business. I think last year she hit like half a million dollars in her business in a year.
year so just watching her grow and go all in on her business and seeing her grow personally as well has been so amazing so Janice is a financial expert she is a financial mentor and you definitely want to reach out to her or follow her if you want to know how to grow your income how to grow and
grow not just grow your income but but then like make it even more amplified like make your money work for you she's incredible so I am collaborating with both of those ladies on the Rich Mommy Retreat and the Rich Mommy Retreat is a three day three night
@thesoniaalejandra (04:11.756)
The Rich Mommy retreat is a four-day and three-night retreat in Costa Rica. And we are
So excited to host this. Like, we have been working together for maybe two or three months, and we finally decided on this to be a retreat. We were first kind of figuring out if we were gonna have a conference, then an event, and then it turned into a retreat. And I feel like we were so feeling so aligned when we landed on that because, as moms, the three of us are moms building a business.
We knew that there are moms out there that need a break, need a space, a trip, right, where we can go and truly just dive into who we wanna become, how we're gonna grow our businesses, like how we're going to grow and show up for ourselves and our family. And creating this space was so amazing for me and
I'm just so excited to be collaborating with these amazing people. So I have thought about doing a retreat, and this is kind of going towards the collaboration. I have thought about doing a retreat for quite some time, but I knew it was going to take a lot. And between planning conferences, launching my coaching program, becoming a mom, and all of the things in the last five years, I just knew I could not do that by myself. Right now I'm focusing on
Doing the fundadoras circle dinner and even launching a retreat in between that felt like a lot. So when these ladies reached out about doing a collab event initially, like I said, it was gonna be a conference. I just jumped on it. I was like, absolutely count me in. Like, I don't want to do another experience on my own, but I would definitely do it with other women. So that is how this was born. Cat, I have to
@thesoniaalejandra (06:14.594)
Give a big shout out to her because she reached out about doing the conference together, and then in the talks of like okay, we want this to be for moms or for women who are building businesses, but very heavily focused on how to grow our money. We were like, Okay, we need to loop in Janice because she's the queen of money, so we looped her in, and now we put together this rich mommy retreat. If you want to learn more, make sure you visit richmommy.com. I will
have more information on the show notes as well. I believe as I am talking right now, which this will be posted in about a few days, we only have three tickets left at the VIP like discount that we have. It's $600 off right now. So hopefully by the time this goes out we still have some of those and hopefully for us we don't I feel like we're definitely not but you can still join I so
Excited because we are we have a full itinerary of different things, not just
time to lounge and obviously like rest. We want a lot of time for rest and excursions. Of course, we want to see Costa Rica, experience Costa Rica, and see like local stuff there too. But we have three workshops planned for you guys. Kat is going to be hosting a rich mommy mindset, like the mindset behind selling, showing up, and really being confident.
Confident with selling your offers, and I want you to think about that as from a place where.
@thesoniaalejandra (08:00.692)
You won't feel scared to show up and just talk about your offer. Kat is great at doing that where you won't feel salesy, like you won't feel like I'm pushy, I'm selling. Like you are doing you are literally serving your community by sharing your skills and like how you can support them. And of course you deserve to get paid for that. And then Janice, of course, is going to be hosting a money workshop where we're gonna be talking about not just
mm ways that you can monetize your skills and the different ways that you can make money, but also how can you grow that money?
So we'll have a lot of conversations around that. And then I will be hosting a personal branding workshop all about leveling up your brand, how to show up. I am planning on working or like putting something together around brand partnerships, like how to land brand partnerships, truly like how to use your personal brand to grow.
In your business and just to attract those opportunities that I know you want: speaking engagement, media coverage, clients, right? Of course, and just different ways that you can really put yourself out there while monetizing as well. So, in between all of this, we're we're being very intentional with how we're going to be spending time out there. We definitely want time, like I said, for excursions and like getting to know Costa Rica.
And a lot of connection. Like I told, and we were all on the same page on this. Like, we want this to feel like a rest and reset rather than like I need a vacation from this afterwards. Like we want you to have time to rest. We're not gonna have crazy like morning starts. Like we want you to have time to just
@thesoniaalejandra (09:54.775)
Visualize your next Rich Mommy level because this is something that I don't know about you, but I definitely want to be a part of because I I even need this reset. So I hope you can join us, RichMommy.com. Make sure you visit and you secure your spots. So this is truly a dream collab for me. Like I've been wanting to collaborate with both Kat and Janice for a while, and just this.
was the perfect timing for me but I want to talk about how can you attract these type of opportunities and I want to start with why are these type of collaborations so important.
I want you to think about the amount of work that it takes to put together an experience, an event, a mastermind, like anything that we put out there, right? Even in in a product-based business, like putting together a pop-up or think about a launch event, right? So many different ways that we can collaborate with other brands, other businesses that can truly put us in front of more people and
And at the same time, you won't have to burn yourself out. And I feel like we're so used to seeing creators, brands, businesses put their own thing on that sometimes we feel like that's the only way we can do it. Like we have to do this ourselves. But there is such beauty behind collaboration, especially as Latinas, like collaboration is something that is already rooted in us. Like if you
You think about the way that we are rooted in community, for example, we love to do things together, right? And I think that when we translate this into business, it really honors where we come from and how we were raised, and at the same time, it allows us to create a bigger impact with the different audiences and people that we are collaborating with.
@thesoniaalejandra (12:07.326)
One of the biggest things that I have realized when we get really down to growth in my business, one of the best ways that I have or one of the ways that I have accelerated is through collabs, right? And I want you to think deeper than just like, hey, let's let's collaborate on an event, right? That's that's or let's collaborate on a retreat like I was talking.
It can be as simple as like let's go live together. Let's just talk about our business or talk about a certain topic and go live together. La while another example is like speaking at my event. Like that's in a way a collaboration, right? Even if it's something that you end up investing in.
Or you know, just for for example in the speaking sense, like if even if I pay a speaker to s to speak at my event, that is still a form of collaborating. And it can look like both, right? It can look like a paid collaboration or a non-paid collaboration where you have a very specific goal besides monetizing this collaboration.
But I think at the end of the day, a huge way that you can put your brand, your services, your mission in front of more people is through collaborations. And I want to challenge you to get creative with the type of collaborations that you want to call in. Like I said, it's not just about like let's put an event together or let's do that together. It's truly about coming together to serve and to create a
bigger impact juntas, right? So one of an example that I can give you where collaboration really fast tracked my growth on social media was during COVID. During COVID, I know you remember the entire world was going live and that was one of the ways that we I grew my account big time was through going live with different women who were Latina, who were aligned, right?
@thesoniaalejandra (14:20.004)
Whether even if it wasn't in the same industry, like we were creators, we were growing businesses, and that was one of the biggest ways that for me I grew my account was through building these little lives that we would go on and just kind of shout out each other and share our our skills, interview other women, just ways that we can help our community. I think even that is still popular now, like there's
Still ways that you can do a series behind going live with other people, like if engagement is something that you're working towards, I would definitely reach out to women and say, Hey, I'm creating a series where I'm gonna be going live with certain ladies. I want to give them I want to highlight them on my page, and then that's a way to start to grow your and put your put your brand in front of other audiences. Obviously, the collaboration portion on
A post, right? That you can go, you can post something and collaborate with people. That is another way to put your brand in front of other accounts. I recently, and this is more specific for maybe in and actually not even any any account because I've seen this happen with even personal pages. Recently, I saw that the account being Latino was collaborating with different creators.
Creators on posts. So when the Carol G tickets went on sale and I created a post like every Latinas inbox looking like this right now, and it was about like me sending the tickets to my amiga that we bought for Carol G, right? Simple example. And the
the the I ended up sending it to being Latino so we can collaborate on the post and they accepted it because obviously it aligned with their audience. Like a lot of their audience is obviously about things that Latinas do. So that was a way that like I got a lot more eyeballs to my account.
@thesoniaalejandra (16:32.44)
from this collaboration post and people followed from that as well. So get creative with ways that you can send these collaboration posts. Like if there are any posts that you feel would resonate with the Muheron Movement account, like I would love to collaborate. You can definitely send that invitation. another way I had coffee with an amiga recently and then we filmed ourselves in the coffee shop and then I put text over like
collaboration over competition, no let's normalize it. And then I sent her the collab post and it was as simple as like, hey, n no need to accept this collab. Like just thought it would align with your audience as well. And of course she she accepted. So again, vice versa, a lot of people saw her and and the same that a lot of her audience was exposed to my content. So that is when it comes to reach, right? When it comes to reach, especially on social media, there are ways for us to collaborate.
Where we can get more people to see what we're doing. Especially if you're someone that you're feeling like you're stuck with
engagement and follower count, I would definitely encourage you to see ways that you can collaborate with people online. Whether it's through the lives or the the collaboration posts or maybe hosting something together. Like I would definitely try to do some type of collaboration if you're feeling stuck with follower account and engagement. So that's one way that we can
in in a more engaged engagement, right? When it comes to engagement and views and all of that.
@thesoniaalejandra (18:15.65)
But when it comes to spaces and just collaborations in general, like the one I was talking about with the retreat, that for me, I think about it in two ways. One, yes, you're going to be exposed to these people's audience, right? Like I've definitely been exposed to more people because of the collaboration with these ladies. But the amount of knowledge that I'm gonna get from this collaboration is
Priceless to me. Just seeing the way they move, seeing the way that they create, seeing the way that they would create a retreat, right? Is so much knowledge for me and vice versa. We start to see each other's ideas, the way we brainstorm. Like in this industry, especially if you're a business owner, you have to understand that there are things
that change when you are in proximity to people that are doing things that you want to do. For example, both of these women have made thousands and thousands, hundreds of thousands of dollars in their business. And it's something that I'm calling into my own business. So being in close proximity and just having conversations about how they do their content or seeing or seeing the way that they're launching this in real time with me.
Is so valuable to me and I
I never come into a collaboration with like, yeah, I'm the expert, I'm gonna show you, blah, blah, blah, blah. I always come into a collaboration with the opportunity that there's the opportunity that there is to gain knowledge and growth. Because at the end of the day, the way that you do business is not the exact same way another person does business. And it can be the slightest thing as having a conversation that reassures that you're on the right path, or having a conversation that allows you
@thesoniaalejandra (20:15.17)
Just to learn different new things, right? So I think that aside from the exposure, aside from the new audience, the followers, the you know, all of those things, it's truly behind the knowledge that you will get and the experience that you will get from working with someone. So I think those are some of the point pointers on make why collaborations are important. Now I want to talk a little bit.
More on what makes a good collab, right? Because I've definitely had collabs not gone wrong but not gone great. And I will say half of the time that I've ever not had a great collaboration with someone has been because there were not clear expectations from the get-go.
And that is so important. Like you don't wanna jump into a collab very like yeah, like very light, you know, just kind of how can I explain that? Like very s just there. Like I'm j jumping into this collab and yeah, it's gonna work out. I've definitely been
I will take accountability and say I've definitely done that in the past, especially as I had so many things going on. Like I felt very it like it was very easy, and you definitely want it to be very clear. And I think that that's one of the things that I've learned through my journey of doing collaborations. Is I have definitely worked on being very, very
clear on expectations on both ways right because it's a disservice for me and for them to not have clear expectations so that would probably be my number one thing that I would say is have clear expectations of what you want the collaboration to look like.
@thesoniaalejandra (22:26.808)
What are you expecting them to do? What are you expecting to do? I have definitely had collabs where there was misunderstandings and I people ghost me or like they just don't end up talking to me anymore because there was misunderstandings about what the deliverables were. And it literally could have just been a conversation from both ends, right? I take accountability that it definitely could have been a conversation on my part and also their part.
Where things could have just gotten cleared up and the expectations would have been set so much more. So to that, I would add, don't ever assume that somebody knows what your expectations are for the collaboration. Like if you are collaborating with this person and one of your expectations is to be tagged or to be shouted out on their social media every single post from the collaboration, like please let them know.
There's no way people can read your mind that you want to be tagged on every single thing. And you might think, well that's just etiquette, like that's just what people do.
Yes, it can be, but at the same time, you don't know how much things that person has on their plate or what they're thinking about or if they even thought about that. Like it might not even be a thing for them. If you're if on paper like you were promised something or you guys said, Okay, you do this and I'm gonna do that, but you didn't clarify that you wanted this specific
shout out or you want it to be tagged then this person there's no way they're gonna know. So expectation is key guys if you don't want
@thesoniaalejandra (24:11.092)
a collaboration to go the wrong way please set clear expectations on what you want from this collaboration what each of you are going to do and it would make it will make things so much more smoother so that is another thing when it comes to collaborations and the last thing I want to leave you with is challenging you to reach out to your dream collab whether it's an event whether it's going live whether it's like
posting something and doing a collaboration post I want to challenge you to do that the best way that you can put yourself out there is to literally do or create something that will catch that account's attention right that person's attention I love one of the ways that I would always do collabs is like I don't ever want to ask of something of someone if I've never even supported their account or
If I'm never even following them, like that is one of the worst things that you can do is reach out to a platform like Mujeron Movement and say, Hey, I would love to collaborate on this, but like you don't even follow the account, or you've never listened to the podcast, you've never attended an event, like I'm sorry, but if you have never supported the the movement, like how can I even know that you know about me or you know that we're aligned, right? So it's
It's not just about like, support me and then I'll support you. It's more like, do you even know what we're about? So I think that's one of the ways that we can definitely do it is making sure you go out there. One of the best examples I can give you is I had someone repost one of my event posts once and say, I would love to bring this event to Chicago.
And I remember just being like, let's do it, right? And then from that we were able to collaborate at some point with an event. But the really cool thing about it was that I while we did this collab,
@thesoniaalejandra (26:31.404)
They had an event going on in between the timeframe that we connected and then when we were s potentially going to have our collaboration event. And I bought a ticket to go to their event. I drove an hour and a half from Milwaukee to Chicago to be in the presence of this community because I wanted to firsthand see like one is this
Aligned with where I want to go, like, do they represent what I would want to put together? Like, you have to be very specific. Like, you can't look at someone and think, they have followers. Like, I have to collaborate with them. Like, they truly have to embody what you who you want to become, who you want to be in front of, like what you stand for. So don't just do collaborations because of followers. Like, I've done that before, and let me tell you, it was not a good experience. So
Definitely experience their events. If you can make it out to their event, at least consume their content, whether they have a podcast or just in general. And then I would say the other thing is support them, be there for them, share their stuff, like if it really resonates with you. But I definitely would say like get in front of them in some way, shape, or form, and then pitch your collab. Like let them.
them see what you're about as well and then pitch your collab. This is specifically for collaborations with other accounts, other creators. This is not specifically for like brand partnerships. That's definitely much difference. And I I will do a podcast episode on how to do collaborations with brands. But this is specifically for other creators or other communities that have or other businesses that are similar than you. You just want to do collaborations together.
So I want to challenge you to go out and first visualize your dream collaboration, even if it's a brand, and I want you to work towards that. I want you to start showing up the way that you would want to show up for that brand and for your own brand as well. I want you to either create a piece of content.
@thesoniaalejandra (28:48.662)
and that aligns with them. I want you to send it to them and just say, hey, like I am so and so, I'm creating this. And I want you to build up to that collaboration.
@thesoniaalejandra (29:06.316)
This is a
That's definitely a way to get in front of them. And in maybe a month or two I would definitely send a pitch.
Even if it's just a simple DM of like, hey, I'm working on this. If you already have something that you would want to collaborate you want them to collaborate with you, or I would love to talk about XYZ collaboration and I would love for us to talk about it. So obviously don't copy that word for word. Say your your piece, like talk about who you are and why this collaboration would
impact their audience.
But I want you to always put that in the forefront. The audience is who matters here, who they're trying to impact and who you're trying to impact. Your collaboration is just the cherry on top. So I hope this helped. I hope that you got something out of this. I hope that you're dreaming up your wildest collaboration. I definitely am. And let's see what comes out of all of these things that we
@thesoniaalejandra (30:23.219)
do. I hope that you join us for the Rich Mommy Retreat, my latest collaboration. I'm so excited. And like always amiga, keep on dreaming, keep on working towards becoming the mujeron of your dreams.
